Volume is the measurement of space taken up by something. Solid, liquids and gasses all take up space. When we teaching volume of liquid, misconception on capacity may arise among the pupils.
Many children have some concept of length and some vocabulary associated with it such as long, tall, short and height. But they have veri little idea on capacity. While perceptual comparisions can be made between two containers, young children often make the comparisions on length (to be exact, the height) rather than on capacity. This task will give us some knowledge to teach pupils how to compare volumes of liquid by direct comparison. Hope we can share some ideas to teach the volume of liquids to our children effectively.
